The On the Road to a Proper Paragraph system works so well in my classroom, I decided to give our Writing Portfolios a makeover to match our writing theme: A Road Map for Writing. And I am thrilled with the results!
Since my students have had great success in writing proper paragraphs, we needed something extra special to showcase our writing throughout the year! This is the result!
They take so much pride in their writing, knowing they have a special place to store their writing pieces. Their families just love to look throught them during Open House and Student-led Conferences. At the end of the year, I provide my students with extra publishing paper so they can continue to add to their portfolio during the summer months. It’s a #teacherwin.
You can personalize the writing portfolio covers with your students’ names. Be sure to have your students date stamp their writing pieces so that you can file them away using these adorable monthly tabs. Teach your children the benefit of creating a Table of Contents for their portfolios. What a professional touch! And lastly, adhere the editable spine label so that the portfolios can be located quickly and easily when stored in your classroom library!
You can find it here at my TpT shop:
Writing Portfolio Cover, Dividers, Table of Contents and Spine
- 6 EDITABLE portfolio covers (red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple)
- 1 black and white portfolio cover
- 6 EDITABLE portfolio spines
- 1 Table of Contents

- 10 monthly tabs to cut, paste and glue.

From my home away from home…
…to yours!

You know how much I love your Road to Paragraph resource, so this is a great way to showcase student work. Every writer needs a portfolio but younger students can't organize it well, so this is definitely going to help with that. I love all the features with this product, especially that it is editable and comes in different colors. Love, Love, Love! Your students and the parents will love this too. It's like a keepsake of their child's work and that is so special!
This looks like so much fun. Not just a great way to show off student work, but a great way to organize all my writing resources. The car tabs are just too cute!!!
